The Venue

Our new venue is part of Fort St Angelo built as a  Castrum Maris (castle by the sea) four hundred years before the Knights set foot in Malta. The Knights did improve the fort but this was well after the Great Siege of 1565. Part of the fort was used to house prisoners and one of the most famous prisoners was the great artist Caravaggio. Caravaggio escaped from the Fort and managed to reach Sicily.

Although there are no details of how he escaped from the fort, it is likely he made his escape via a boat moored outside the back entrance of the restaurant.
